What are hybrid solar solutions？
Hybrid solar systems have the characteristics of both off-grid solar systems and grid-tied solar systems, meaning they have energy storage systems that can serve as emergency reserves, and can also feed excess electricity back into the grid.
It is precisely because of this characteristic that it is called a hybrid solar energy system.
Why choose a hybrid solar system？
As shown in the diagram above, a hybrid solar system typically includes PV modules, an inverter, grid or generator, energy storage battery, essential load, and secondary load.
Self-use
- During the day, the direct current generated by the solar panels is converted to alternating current via an inverter and then is available for essential load. If there is still a surplus of electricity, it will charge the energy storage battery. At the same time, the grid will supply the secondary load. When the power generated by solar panels can not meet the electricity needs of the essential load, the energy storage battery and the grid will supplement the power supply.
- At night, the PV fails, and the storage battery and the grid supply power to the load.
Sell for profit
- Once the solar panels have generated enough electricity to power the load and the storage batteries are full, the surplus can be sold to the grid for a profit. For safety reasons, when there is a grid outage, the inverter will disable on-grid function.
